The Big Diesel versus The Big Show

In a new twist that doesn’t stray far from who Shaquille O’Neal is, the newly-minted Cleveland Cavalier hulking of a center, probably as part of his summer athletic regimen, went up against WWE superstar The Big Show last July 27 during Monday Night Raw.

Apparently Shaq WAS part of the show as a guest referee.

It ended with Shaq beating the sh*t out of the giant from WWE.

When I was a kid, I grew up watching Andre the Giant, Randy “The Macho Man” Savage, The Ultimate Warrior and my favorite Hulk Hogan alongside my Rosales cousins in Butuan with our Lolo, the former Butuan City Vice Mayor Ramon C. Rosales.  Screaming, running around, taunting each other, we’d mimic our favorite wrestlers amidst the constant “Hsssssst” reprimands from Lolo to quiet us down.

Watching the video from YouTube brought back memories of the showmanship and the entertainment WWF(as it was known back then) brought us everytime we went home to Butuan.

Shaq’s always been known as a master showman in the NBA.  Remember how he stole the thunder during the last All-Star Game introductions in Phoenix?  He wasn’t a starter, but man, coming in with the Jabbawockeez certainly shot him higher and beyond the reputation of being an All-Star starter.

His foray into the WWE brought in another facet to the burgeoning entertainment career for the man they call “The Diesel”, “The Big Aristotle”, “The Big Cactus”, the original “Superman” of the NBA.

Here’s the video:

Thanks to Mark Deutsch for bringing to our attention the video that spawned this blog.
